Jogja Day 2 Gastronomic Adventure

We began the day with brunch at the Ibis Hotel Coffee House. Nothing much worth mentioning. As we stepped into the cafe it was nearly 11am, so we sorta had 10 - 15 minutes to gobble up anything we could. Since I was not feeling well, I only had a couple of mini croissants and a couple pieces of chicken sausages and a piece of chocolate muffin.

For lunch, we had a bowl of really tasty Meatball Bakso at a nearby Rumah Makan Bakso Ito, about a hundred meters from our Ibis Hotel. A dish tasted like chicken flavored Maggie mee but with really nice gigantic-sized meatballs. I enjoyed the dish with condiments such as chilli sauce and pepper. I had a glass of Iced Coconut (Es Kelapa) with syrup to cool down the fever while KN had a glass of Happy Soda @ Soda gembira (a no no for me since it was really sweet; really thick syrup with condensed milk and a bottle of ice cream soda). If not for the fact that we were moving to a new hotel tomorrow and the thought of having to sample many more local dishes while we were in Jogja, we would have definitely returned to Rumah Makan Bakso Ito for their really delicious Meatball Bakso. Yummy!

For dinner, we had McDonald's. McD may sound very familiar to all of us but what's special in Jogja's McD (or all McD's in Indonesia for that matter) most of the items on the menu are served with rice. We both ordered two pieces of spicy fried chicken each but I chose the set served with a packet of aromatic, sort of glutinous rice. It was kinda awkward eating rice at McDonald's but the experience was surely fun.
