Can anyone tell me why Jemput-jemput is called by some, Cekodok? I don't see any resemblance of the food to a frog. And why in the world would anyone name their food after such slimy and hideous creature?
Look at the Onions... Yummy!Anyway, I was in my very rare mood to cook and last weekend I had a sudden craving for Jemput-jemput Bawang...with LOTS of thickly sliced onion. I would usually crispy-deep fry them so that they become real crunchy on the outside but soft in the inside with thick pieces of juicy onion. I love dipping these Jemput-jemput Bawang with chili sauce. Yummy! Now, isn't Jemput-jemput a nicer name for such a delicious traditional food?

hold on.... from what I know, cekodok is "jemput2 pisang"... mana ada org panggil jemput2 bawang, cekodok... "cucur bawang" adalaa... why cekodok...? dunno laaa... coz cekodok/jemput2 pisang tuh agak ala2 brownish/gelap kut... cucur bawang/udang memang sedap, best...!! senang buat pun ya... hehehe...
oh ek? I've heard people use the general term 'cekodok' for all types of jemput2... My family calls 'Cekodok Pisang' Jemput2 Pisang, logical reason would be menda alah tu sejemput2 la... Kembara u ada resipi cucur udang tak? I like cucur udang MINUS the udang ler... seafood maaa

ahahahah pandainya! Tapi kalau yang segera tu mesti rasa udang dia kuat. Masa kat sekolah dulu Kal El pernah kene gelak ngan makcik jual kueh sebab mintak cucur udang takmo udang, boleh?
